Michael Aung-Thwin received his PhD from The University of Michigan and is professor of Asian Studies, University of Hawai`i at Manoa. His recent publications include “ Myth and History in the Historiography of Early Burma: Paradigms, Primary Sources, and Prejudices and Irrigation” in The Heartland of Burma: Foundations of the Pre-Colonial Burmese State. In addition, he is co-editor (with Miriam Stark) of The Archaeology of Myanma Pyay ( Burma): Special Burma Issue ( University of Hawai`i Press, 2001). Dr. Aung-Thwin has also recently produced an interactive CD-ROM entitled “ The Making of Modern Burma.”
