Liam Kelley is an assistant professor of history at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa.  He has a background in both Chinese and Southeast Asian history, and teaches a wide courses that range from general world and Asian history surveys to more specialized courses on the modern histories of Vietnam and the Mekong region.  He has recently published a book on premodern Sino-Vietnamese culturo-political relations entitled Beyond the Bronze Pillars: Envoy Poetry and the Sino-Vietnamese Relationship ( Honolulu: UH Press, 2005).
