The Central Valley of Mexico

Students will use maps to define the physical and historical geography of Mexico with specific focus on the Aztec civilization. Her history is unparalleled. It is the story of a magnificent civilization, conquered and destroyed, upon which rests the emergence of a new people and nation. Its diverse physiographical and cultural spheres make Mexico an intriguing study. GIS created mapping layers and other materials will focus on the physiographical factors that contributed to the making of a great civilization. Those same factors will enable the student to more fully comprehend the economic poverty of our neighbor to the south. In sum, students will be encouraged to analyze the linkages between Mexico ~ Then and Now.
